"One thing we are so grateful to the Westerner for," one African told me with great emotion, "is that they brought us the Gospel. Without it, where would we be?"
This poignant comment caused me to ask myself that question: "Where would I be without the Gospel?"
As you know, my life has not been easy on so many fronts, and yet I consider all that this Good News has brought me:
- I'm a recipient of His unconditional love
- I revel in the freedom of grace
- I know, at a deep level, a peace that goes beyond externals alone
- I enjoy the eternal friendship of the One who created all things
Which brings me to my second thought: "Where would I be if someone had not shared the Gospel with me?"
I was recently reminded that 55,000 people die every day never having heard the name of Jesus. I do not consider this something to feel condemned about, rather I prefer to look at the opportunity we have, together, to see more people than ever hear that name and experience His life-giving power.
So, my heartfelt appreciation for joining with us in taking the wonder of Jesus' love to spiritually hungry people. Let's keep on!
